Mouth blisters, or aphtous stomatosis are little round wounds, which sometimes appear in your mouth. This term includes conditions that are differently advanced, which basic signs are mouth blisters.
In order to be able to beat your enemy, first you have to know all about them. However, in this case this is not really possible. It is believed that you get mouth blisters because of the key role of Herpes simplex virus, and changed reactivity of your organism toward occurrence of some microorganism. Other reasons why mouth blisters may appear in your mouth are couple of psychosomatic, inner-organ, and immune factors. In light cases, the causes are not able to overcome good coordinated defense mechanisms of human organism, and as a result, the occurred changes are not many. In heavier cases, complex reaction occurs between the original factors, the tissues that have changed, and cellular immune products. All of these occur in different links of the pathological chain, and their course is hard or even impossible to stop. As a result, uncontrolled and non-standard reactions develop – localized or spread. There is a connection to genetic factors as well.
Mouth blisters are well limited, round or oval, from two to five millimeters wide, shallow ulcers erosions. They are usually covered by whitish or yellowish mill-cake, and are surrounded by bright red peripheral mucosa. Mouth blisters are stand alone, singular or grouped, and are severely painful. Before they turn into actual mouth blisters, they look like little bubbles, but this period passes very fast, so they are almost never able to be found during examinations. Mouth blisters can appear anywhere in your mouth, but their favorite spots are the subcutaneous mucosa, the tongue, the cheeks, and the lips. The evolution of separate mouth blisters lasts about one to two weeks, in some cases longer.
There are two basic forms of mouth blisters – "Aphtae vulgares" and recurrent mouth blisters. The first kind tends to appear irregularly, due to random reasons – severe infections, gastrointestinal disturbances, and local traumas. The period until their next appearance is basically unpredictable. The second kind of mouth blisters is very different. It is a morbid condition, which is relatively harmless, and may last many years. Usually, you may get this condition, while you are younger. The specific reasons for every rerun are undefined. A couple of things that matter are psychic disorders, severe infections, chronic gastrointestinal diseases (gastritis, ulcer, colitis), hormonal impact (especially when premenstrual), immune disorders. Usually, you would get from one to four mouth blisters, rarely more. They develop in uneven periods of time (weeks, months), but sometimes, their attacks are more often and disturbing.
The right way to heal mouth blisters includes vitamin B, combined with foil acid and vitamin PP. If your condition is more severe, you might want to discuss corticosteroids, cytostatics, as well as immune stimulators with your doctor. It is also good to treat mouth blisters directly, with antiseptics.
